Classroom Behaviors: Rules and Procedures
Cooperative social skills are an important part of early childhood development and essential for productive classroom functioning. We will spend the first few weeks of school establishing rules, routines and procedures that will set behavioral expectations for students ensuring effective instruction and the safety of all students. I will engage the class in discussing the importance and need for rules and procedures and explain consequences and rewards connected to their behavior and performance.
Rules
We will begin the year with four basic classroom rules:
1. Always listen and do not interrupt when the teacher and others are talking.
2. Use hand signals for questions, comments or other needs during class time.
3. We are always friendly and polite to others.
4. Use indoor voices inside the school and do not disturb others from learning
Procedures
Additionally, we will have set procedures for
1. lining up, transitioning and traveling in and outside the classroom.
2. Entering and exiting the classroom
3. Restroom procedures
4. Fire Drills
5. Use of hand signals during instruction
6. Digital Citizenship/Etiquette
- A note about Digital Citizenship: With even pre-schoolers accessing digital media these days digital etiquette and safety is an important element for children utilizing digital and electronic resources. Students will be taught proper use and handling of electronic devices, including the use of login's, usernames and passwords as well as internet safety and security.
