Dear Parent and Family,
Hello and welcome, I am delighted to have your student in my 1st Grade class. The first few weeks of school we will not only be assessing student’s levels of knowledge and development but also establishing classroom rules routines and procedures. I will also be sending home an information packet for your completion covering topics such as supplies, birthdays, back to school night, open houses and parent questionnaires School starts promptly at 8:45 am, please make sure your child is ready for classroom activities and instruction upon arrival. I understand both parents and young children experience some degree of anxiety adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings and experiences. Therefore, I will allow a 15-minute period from 8:30 – 8:45 for you to remain with your child in the classroom to assist in the transition from home to the school. During this time, you may read or engage in activity with your child. Please make sure your child arrives at school dressed appropriately for outdoor activities and prevailing weather conditions. Late arrivals must check-in at the school office before coming to the classroom. You will receive ongoing communication between school and home to keep you informed about your child’s work, their progress, and any problems we need to address to include monthly newsletters from the classroom. I look forward to learning, growing, and having fun with your student and you.
